My daughter’s friends at school were suggesting she read mainstream romance and romantasy books, and the list on this page represents the romance books I researched and/or pre-read for her that were written by Christians, so they contain no language, no sex (actual or implied), and no agendas contrary to our faith, which can seem rare in this day and age.
I wanted to create an ongoing list of titles that you can feel good about letting your kids read. So far, my search has yielded some fantastic results!
I have read many of the Christian romance books for teens on this list, but some were suggested to me by trusted friends and even other Christian authors.
**Not all of these books contain a strong religious message, but all were written by Christian authors. These are romance books, and they do contain kissing and various levels of attraction. Check the reviews on Amazon or Goodreads for more detailed content info.

I want to clarify a few terms:
For many of us in the book world, the term “steamy” means sexual content, as in on-page sex scenes. Suspended in the Stars does NOT contain on-page sex…or implied sex for that matter.
The use of the quotes around the word “sparring” seemed like it could be innuendo for something else. The word does mean sparring…as in hand-to-hand fighting. The two main characters practice fighting, the male shirtless and the female with a sports bra and leggings, until they are sweaty and fall down. The scene lasts a few pages until the girl storms off.
I hope this clarifies the scene for everyone. All books on this page are romances, and there is kissing, and some have more physical attraction than others. Readers’ thoughts on this book, and on any book, are likely shaped by perspective and preference.
My 14-year-old daughter and I loved Suspended in the Stars and its lovely author, whom I met at a Christian fiction event last year. The list on this page represents the books I researched and pre-read for my daughter that were written by known Christians, so they contain no language, no sex, and no agendas contrary to our faith, which seems rare to my daughter, whose friends at school suggest she read mainstream romance and romantasy books. From that perspective, this list is quite refreshing.
Other parents’ and readers’ perspectives may be different than ours. Be sure to check the comments on Amazon and Goodreads. This is a great place to gain more insight and perspective into any book.
I wanted to like Suspended in the Stars based on the storyline, but it was not “clean and wholesome” in my opinion. I’m a mom of a teen and I’ve been reading clean/Christian romances for 30 years, and I (and my 20 year old niece) stopped reading it after getting through about 20% of the book. It seemed like about half the content was “steamy.” I closed the book after one particular scene in which there was a lot of minimally clothed, sweaty, skin-to-skin “sparring” between two people who have already made it abundantly clear to the reader how physically attracted they are to each other (despite having only met a few days prior).
I don’t like leaving a negative comment, but when I searched for Christian reviews of this book, I didn’t see much, and I wish I had pre-screened this before letting my 15 year old read it. I get that not everyone is as “conservative” as I am, but I’m hoping to save someone with similar values the trouble.
Thank you for sharing your perspective on this! I hope it helps other parents looking for the same kind of books you are.
A really good medieval romance series is The Dericott Tales by Melanie Dickerson, it’s a collection of fairytale retellings and is so fun to read!
I love Melanie Dickerson! Totally clean, no swearing or explicit references, and well written.
It’s refreshing to see titles that offer emotional depth while upholding messages of integrity, hope, and spiritual growth. I especially appreciate your attention to wholesome storytelling that doesn’t shy away from complexity. Thank you for curating such a meaningful collection—it’s sure to resonate with both teens and their families.
Thank you for doing this I am always looking for good books to read that are for teens and christians and it is so hard to find some by just looking up “christian books for teens” normally they have something weird about them or they are not even about the topic.
