I wanted to like Suspended in the Stars based on the storyline, but it was not “clean and wholesome” in my opinion. I’m a mom of a teen and I’ve been reading clean/Christian romances for 30 years, and I (and my 20 year old niece) stopped reading it after getting through about 20% of the book. It seemed like about half the content was “steamy.” I closed the book after one particular scene in which there was a lot of minimally clothed, sweaty, skin-to-skin “sparring” between two people who have already made it abundantly clear to the reader how physically attracted they are to each other (despite having only met a few days prior).
I don’t like leaving a negative comment, but when I searched for Christian reviews of this book, I didn’t see much, and I wish I had pre-screened this before letting my 15 year old read it. I get that not everyone is as “conservative” as I am, but I’m hoping to save someone with similar values the trouble.
A really good medieval romance series is The Dericott Tales by Melanie Dickerson, it’s a collection of fairytale retellings and is so fun to read!
I love Melanie Dickerson! Totally clean, no swearing or explicit references, and well written.
It’s refreshing to see titles that offer emotional depth while upholding messages of integrity, hope, and spiritual growth. I especially appreciate your attention to wholesome storytelling that doesn’t shy away from complexity. Thank you for curating such a meaningful collection—it’s sure to resonate with both teens and their families.
Thank you for doing this I am always looking for good books to read that are for teens and christians and it is so hard to find some by just looking up “christian books for teens” normally they have something weird about them or they are not even about the topic.
